The human being [("endowed with the image of the Spirit Itself" - Craton) Ref. Genesis 1: 26, 27] is an emotional creature. This is a fact whether it is stylish or not. In this plethora of responses exists both 'good' and 'bad' possibilities. We all like to experience the 'good' times, but when the 'bad' times come upon us is when the test of true character presents itself. With this said, I wish to address a particular emotion. Anger is most definitely a force to be reckoned with. Some people would like to say that this emotion is wrong and that it should be suppressed. But I say that if anger is not properly worked through then we are truly a lost civilization. When anger is justified, as it is in the presence of injustice, if one turns their head and walks away justice is not served. It is this act that brings on apathy. This numbness is what has been plaguing our society. This indifference is what is continuing to allow for ignorance to abound. This process has infiltrated into our homes, hospitals, doctors offices, colleges, courts, churches, schools, social groups, political arenas, news agencies, and yes, is even now being fed into the hearts, minds, and souls of our children. There is no fire, no spark, that actually has the ability to change the world as we know it in this desolation of apathy. It is a commonplace notion that we should place trust in our institutions, such as schools, colleges, and medical, religious, and other professional establishments. But when these entities are more concerned about legal ramifications or remaining in vogue, evidence to show this fact is suppressed unless one attempts to 'rock the boat'. If there is no one to keep the system honest, then we most definitely have become a nation of slaves; individual responsibility has been conquered and we now willingly and blindly follow the machine. Are you angry yet? Angry enough to begin to educate yourself and learn how to think freely? I know I am. And yes, there is a season for change and rebirth, a time for true renaissance. Godspeed. |
